More than 60 colleges nationwide are expected to be represented at the ninth annual Hawaii Volleyball Combine held Friday through Sunday at Manoa Valley District Park. This year, there are 311 high school student athletes registered for the event, including players from the neighbor islands. Kamehameha junior setter Lexis Akeo was named the Gatorade Hawaii girls volleyball player of the year today. Akeo led the Warriors the Division I state title and was named most valuable player of the tournament after tallying 35 assists, 11 digs, three kills, three block assists and an ace in a sweep of ‘Iolani in the final.
