Govs, Warriors clash in opening scrimmage

The future is so bright, sunglasses were in need on Thursday afternoon atop Kapalama Heights, where Kamehameha went to work. The Warriors suited up in full gear for a scrimmage with the Farrington Governors. After a summer of pass league games, constant workouts and intersquad contact, Thursday gave teams around the state a chance to knock around another team’s players for a change. Some great footage of OL-versus-DL one-on-one (no pad) drills. Farrington defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko and Punahou offensive lineman Semisi Uluave look terrific against the top guys in the Oakland Nike Football Training Camp. Also in the footage is DL Salanoa Alo-Wily (Kahuku) and DT Rex Manu (Mililani). Fehoko (6-3, 285) has already committed to play for Texas Tech. He will be a senior this fall.

The first round of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships kicked off Friday night with the OIA scoring both wins in Division I. Over on Maui, Farrington scored an emotional victory over Baldwin, defeating the Bears 21-3. Sanele Lavatai rushed for 105 of Farrington’s 211 total yards on the ground and quarterback Montana Liana was 14-for-27 for 196 yards.
