By Paul Honda on September 9, 2014

(Here’s an extended version of this morning’s feature story). If Ranan Mamiya wrote the details of his personal highlights, they would be engulfed by names and numbers. As in the names and jersey numbers of his teammates — his blockers. For his nine rushing touchdowns, the numerals worn by his offensive linemen, a.k.a. the Bamboolahs. For his touchdown returns on kickoffs and punts, the numbers of his wall builders. And for that touchdown pass he threw on Saturday against Aiea, […]

Govs’ defense gets it done

By Jason Kaneshiro on August 30, 2014

Farrington gave up yards in bunches on Friday. But the Governors protected enough territory to keep Moanalua at arm’s length in a 47-27 win. Na Menehune generated 577 passing yards with receiver Karson Cruz accounting for 310 and two touchdowns. Mamiya, Milton off to good starts

By Nick Abramo on August 25, 2014

It’s almost surreal the way Ranan Mamiya and McKenzie Milton have been playing, so it’s not surprising to see that they have out-of-this-world stats. In the most simplest and bare-bones way, Mamiya can run and Milton can pass. With burning speed and natural cutting instincts, Mamiya, the Farrington senior running back, is averaging 16.8 yards per carry in two games. What? He also has six touchdowns, and he was barely touched in a four carry, 124-yard, three TD performance in […]
