LIVE BLOG: Farrington 19, Kailua 13, F

By Paul Honda on September 12, 2015

Just a few minutes from kickoff here at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. The modem I use for the laptop is a bit cranky today. I’ll blog via my phone instead so please bear with me. It’ll be a step slower and have maybe a few more typos. JV: Farrington 24, Kailua 19, final. FIRST QUARTER Nice opening match by the Govs but they botch a handoff exchange at the 10. Now it’s Kailua with a lengthy drive as the quarter ends. […]

Say, Okimoto square off in Round 3

By Jerry Campany on September 3, 2015

Aiea coach Wendell Say and Farrington coach Randall Okimoto have been big names on the Hawaii coaching scene for so long, how is it possible that they have met on the field only twice? Say, the dean of OIA coaches, and Okimoto will face off for the third time in their careers on Friday. Say has been the head coach at Aiea since 1997 and Okimoto has run the Governors since 2000. It doesn’t portend good things for Say, whose […]

VIDEO: Moanalua vs. #6 Farrington

By Paul Honda on August 30, 2015

Moanalua and Farrington showed a penchant for running the ball. No surprise at Farrington, but Moanalua? Michael Feliciano had been a rushing-yardage machine early in the season. On this night, however, defenses locked down the two running backs, leaving the jet streams above to Farrington QB Bishop Rapozo and Moanalua QB Alakai Yuen. The two combined for nearly 700 passing yards as Farrington rallied for a 42-35 win.

Slow the run, pay the air tax

By Paul Honda on August 30, 2015

On a night when two normally prolific running backs — Michael Feliciano of Moanalua and Challen Faamatau of Farrington — found just about every nook and cranny occupied by the enemy, the fate of their title-contending teams may have gone in opposite directions. Moanalua isn’t a widely accepted title contender, but certainly most fans can agree that they are a playoff threat. Feliciano, who is capable of breaking off a 200-yard rushing game any time, was limited to 3.5 yards […]

LIVE BLOG: Farrington 42, Moanalua 35, F

By Paul Honda on August 29, 2015

Hot conditions here at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium for this OIA Blue showdown. JV game won by Farrington, 30-14. FIRST QUARTER Govs drove to the Moanalua 36 and stalled. MOA then drove to the FAR 37 and stalled despite two great fake punt calls. One snap went to the up back, who ran for a first down. The second fake resulted in a pass from another up back, but the receiver fell down before he could get one more yard for […]

Trojans drop to No. 8 in nation; Govs rise

By Nick Abramo on August 24, 2015

Mililani, Hawaii’s top-ranked high school football team, stopped Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue rival Campbell 49-21 on Thursday, but still fell two spots in the MaxPreps national computer rankings released Sunday. Both Saint Louis, a 55-6 winner over Fagaitua of American Samoa, and idle Punahou dropped seven spots, but are still in the top 50. Farrington, by virtue of its 52-8 rout of ‘Iolani, got some extra love this week in the rankings and moved up 622 spots to No. 373. […]
