Governors keep Sula with them

By Christian Shimabuku on September 18, 2016

Behind Farrington’s record-breaking performance on Saturday night was a player that didn’t accumulate any statistics for the Governors. Wesley Sula would have been a senior at Farrington had he not had his life tragically taken away during a stabbing in April. Saturday night’s game against Nanakuli doubled up as senior night and homecoming for the Govs. The team carried his jersey out during Farrington’s singing of the alma mater. “I was waiting for a time where we could do that,” […]

The day the Govs won it all (in Nevada)

By Jerry Campany on September 16, 2016

Even though it is ancient history, it has been done before. As Kahuku prepares to meet Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas on Saturday, it can take some comfort in the fact that it is not the first Hawaii team to travel to beat the Gaels and return to the islands a winner. Farrington did the trick way back in 1968, when a team that included Randy Cadiente, Onosai Tanuvasa, Russ Onaga, Wilfred Makaehu, Howard Ilae and Cliff LaBoy made the […]

GAME NIGHT 9/10: Farrington/Castle

By Hawaii Prep World on September 10, 2016

Six high school football games on the same night as a Hawaii football home game? You bet. No. 6 Farrington tries to keep pace with co-leaders Mililani and Kapolei in the OIA Red. The Governors (3-1, 3-1) head to Castle to face the Knights (2-2, 1-2). HISTORY: Farrington leads the all-time series 19-13 and has won seven of the last eight. —- 9:37 p.m.: And that wraps it up. Farrington gets another small scare before running away with it. Faamatau […]

Govs’ Faamatau is sensational again

By Nick Abramo on September 8, 2016

Challen Faamatau has been taking handoffs from Farrington varsity quarterbacks and looking for daylight for three years now. At times, Faamatau finds that daylight to put the hurt on opponents. At other times, he mixes it up inside the pile searching for just a little space — and usually succeeding for at least a few yards. He did both of those things again on Monday night in a 19-6 victory over Leilehua. It was a big win for the sixth-ranked […]

GAME NIGHT 9/5: Farrington/Leilehua

By Hawaii Prep World on September 5, 2016

Monday night football hits the 808 state for the second time in as many years. Last year, it was lightning that forced two games to be postponed to a Monday. This year, the threat of Hurricane Lester has given us three Monday night games on the slate. No. 7 Farrington (2-1, 2-1 OIA Red) is coming off a close loss to Mililani while Leilehua (1-3, 1-2) picked up its first win of the season against Nanakuli last week. History: Leilehua […]

Govs, the Ticky and 24 ‘home’ wins in a row

By Paul Honda on September 1, 2016

Randall Okimoto wants his home games. Simple as it sounds, it’s not an easy task to accomplish, not when it involves his Farrington Governors and the Mililani Trojans. According to Okimoto, just about every time his Govs are supposed to host Mililani on the Farrington’s adopted home field — Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium at Roosevelt High School — the game is moved to Aloha Stadium. Conversely, each time Farrington is the away team, the game stays at Mililani’s home field. He […]
