Harder captured the ILH boys individual title at Mid-Pacific in 16 minutes, 56.67 seconds. “It feels pretty good to have won ILH champs twice, but I couldn’t have done it without my parents, amazing team, my coach Jeremy (Honold) and most importantly God,” Harder said. “I’m ready for states and can’t be more prepared than I […]

Roosevelt’s Tyler Morimoto thrives as a three-time Special Olympics world gold medalist

By Nick Abramo on June 3, 2019

Being a Special Olympics athlete and a varsity athlete is not a common combination. But it is Tyler Morimoto‘s combination. Morimoto, 17, won three gold medals at the Special Olympics World Games, but that incredible haul tells only a sliver of who he really is. Morimoto is autistic and he has ADHD. He is also what is called “high functioning.” That is not surprising when you realize he has a 3.3 grade-point average at Roosevelt and when you speak with […]

Coryell led Hawaii Baptist to the Division II state championship on Oct. 27, 2018, at Central Oahu Regional Park. What made that state title all the more special was that, had the girls race not been broken down into Division I and Division II for team purposes, the Eagles would have secured a victory against the whole […]

Foot notes: HBA sweeps in Division II cross country

By Stan Lee on October 30, 2018

Hawaii Baptist’s first state title in girls cross country came in dominating fashion. The Eagles placed four girls in the top 10 to claim the Division II title at Saturday’s Honolulu Marathon/HHSAA State Championships at Central Oahu Regional Park. Their win ended Seabury Hall’s streak — the Spartans had won every team title since a DII classification was added in 2012. Only one race is held per gender at the state meet. Team scores in Division I and II are […]

Honold’s vision takes Hanalani from 0 to 50

By Paul Honda on October 24, 2018

It started with a vision. Four years later, Hanalani is one of the premier Division II cross country programs in the state. Jeremy Honold arrived in 2014 to a campus that didn’t have a program. With only 300 students grades 7-12, Honold brought a plan that was part science, part faith and 100 percent effective. Perspiration plus inspiration. Adam Harder is the top harrier in the ILH now after winning the boys individual crown last weekend. But solo work is […]
