By Paul Honda on February 6, 2014

(Here’s an extended report on Wednesday’s letter-of-intent signing ceremony hosted by PIAA at the Sheraton Waikiki. The first version was published in this morning’s Star-Advertiser. See Tuesday’s short story and photo gallery on Prep World here.) Signing Day: Tuileta’s dilemma and more

By Paul Honda on February 5, 2014

Larry Tuileta, Punahou’s All-State quarterback, spurned Hawaii and signed with USC this morning at PIAA’s Letter-of-Intent signing ceremony at the Sheraton Waikiki. In the story at the Star-Advertiser’s breaking news this morning, “Tui” explains how USC got involved long after he had committed to play football and volleyball at UH. He will be a preferred walk-on at USC (football) with the emphasis on volleyball. He turned down a straight-out scholie from Manoa. From what I understand, UH was counting on […]

Printable results of the 2013 state cross country meet: Boys || Girls Even with two of the state’s most decorated cross country runners hanging up their cleats, don’t expect a letdown next year. Dakota Grossman became the first athlete to win four straight state championships at its current distance on Friday, and Davis Kaahanui repeated as the boys champion. The Spartans followed Grossman to the Division II title and the Warriors continued their dynasty with another team title. But those […]

Cross country records in danger on Kauai

By Jerry Campany on October 24, 2013

Seabury Hall’s Dakota Grossman has nearly done it all. She won her fourth MIL title last week on Molokai and will be going for a fourth straight state crown on Friday on Kauai, which would match Eri McDonald of Punahou’s string from 1995-98. The one thing Grossman is missing, though, is the state championship record. Grossman has never come close to Lauren Ho‘s mark of 18 minutes, 11 seconds when the Hawaii Baptist blazer tore up the course at Kauai […]
