Mililani takes team titles at West championship

Mililani’s Vanessa Roybal won her third straight divisional title at Saturday afternoon’s OIA Western Division cross country championship. Roybal won the girls 3-mile race in 19 minutes, 45.45 seconds at Central Oahu Regional Park. She won the varsity girls race last year and was the JV winner as a sophomore. Kalaheo sweeps titles at OIA East championship

Kalaheo swept the team titles at Saturday morning’s OIA Eastern Division cross country championship. Kalaheo runners grabbed the top four spots to help the Mustangs win the boys team title with 20 points at Central Oahu Regional Park. Avery Torres was first in the 3-mile race in 17 minutes, 11.60 seconds. Colby Otero finished second in 17:45.22, followed by Gillaume Tabary in 18:00.70 and Louis Delcore in 18:15.55. Hawaii Prep, Hilo rise in BIIF cross country

The Hawaii Prep girls and Hilo boys ran to wins in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation cross country race at Kamehameha-Hawaii on Saturday. Hilo’s Keala Pacyao-Rivilla won the 3-mile girls race in 21 minutes, 36.43 seconds, but Ka Makani took the next four places. Waiakea’s Louie Ondo ran to victory in the boys race in 16:41.55. Priory’s Jones organizes fun run

Called upon to organize a race seemed to be the perfect fit. Jordan Jones, a St. Andrew’s Priory sophomore, was asked to organize this year’s Hawaii Children and Youth Day Fun Run. The race allowed her to apply her passion for running to a community service project. Waiakea’s Louie Ondo and Pac-Five’s Jordan Jones were the top Hawaii finishers at Saturday’s ‘Iolani Invitational held at Kualoa Ranch. Ondo finished eighth in the boys 3-mile race with a time of 16 minutes, 30.87 seconds. Punahou’s Connor Lehl was 10th in 16:35.84 and ‘Iolani’s Royce Garcia placed 15th with a time of 16:54.17. Kaiser’s Lisa Tashiro and Kalaheo’s Avery Torres remain undefeated. Tashiro won the girls race and Torres won the boys race at Saturday’s Pearl City cross country meet. They also won their respective races at the season-opening Michael Doran Invitational on Sept. 5. Tashiro, the defending state champion, finished the 3-mile course in 19 minutes, 15.48 seconds. Waiakea’s Louie Ondo won Saturday’s Kamehameha-Hawaii Invitational. Ondo has won both of his cross country races two weeks into the season. Ondo finished the boys 3-mile course at Kamehameha-Hawaii in 16 minutes, 46.07 seconds. Hilo’s River Brown was second in 16:58.24 and Konawaena’s Cody Ranfrnaz placed third in 17:00.18.
