Moanalua and Radford won the large and medium divisions, respectively, at the 2015 Zippy’s/HHSAA Cheerleading State Championships on Sunday. 30 teams ranging from intermediate to varsity squads performed their routines at the Neal S Blaisdell Arena. Four teams competed in the large division, 13 teams competed in the medium, and the rest were JV and intermediate squads who performed as an exhibition. Kamehameha will go for its second straight ILH cheerleading championship tonight at Kamehameha beginning at 6 p.m. The Warriors have won every ILH title except two, in 2012 and 2013 when Pac-Five rose up. The Warriors got the title back last year. Kamehameha can expect a challenge from another program looking for its first title this time. The Kamehameha cheerleaders defended their title last weekend. The Warriors’ 14-member squad won the medium division of the “Game Day Championships” portion of the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championships last weekend in Orlando, Fla., and will return to Oahu on Tuesday. Kamehameha defeated nine other teams in that division, which is a relatively new category.
