LIVE BLOG: #1 Konawaena 62, S. Medford 48, F

By Paul Honda on December 11, 2015

The Wildcats are warming up and almost ready to square off against South Medford (Ore.), a team that rallied past Punahou in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Bishop O’Dowd, the California powerhouse, will face host ‘Iolani in the second semifinal to follow this game. I doubt Konawaena will look past South Medford. The Panthers rallied from 13 points down to oust ILH powerhouse Punahou. That probably should serve as plenty of warning for any team from the islands, even the powerhouse […]

Joselle Ferrer‘s first and only 3-pointer of the game came at the perfect time for the Lady Tigers of McKinley. Ferrer’s shot gave the visiting Tigers a 31-30 win over Moanalua.

Or maybe it is an altar of sacrifice, because Lord only knows the time, energy and hope that were shed in the recruitment of the magical, clutch and amazing basketball player known as Chanelle Molina. Turns out that Konawaena senior and walking triple-double threat has known for a year what she wanted. For Washington State, it is a stunningly good time to have […]

Chanelle Molina, who committed to Washington State recently, is superb. So are Celena Jane Molina, Cherilyn Molina and Ihi Victor. The Wildcats lead Punahou at the half 33-19. It was 16-12 before Chanelle Molina got a steal for a layup, and a 3-point swisher. Punahou has Va’e Malufau and Tyra Moe back. Staying in the game via […]

The Konawaena Wildcats know travel, all right. Come Christmas week, the six-time Hawaii girls basketball state champions will fly to Washington D.C. to play in the Title IX Tournament and Conference. Coach Bobbie Awa’s team has won six HHSAA state titles in the past 12 years, including last season’s crown.
