Kamehameha hires boys, girls basketball coaches

Larry Park and Alexis Straight are the new Kamehameha boys and girls basketball coaches, the school announced Tuesday. Park is a former Warriors player. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii. Roosevelt hires Joe Cho as girls hoops coach

That didn’t take very long. Less than two months after Kamehameha chose not to retain Joe Cho as girls varsity basketball coach, Roosevelt has hired him. Cho’s team at Kamehameha was a regular in the Star-Advertiser Top 10 and contended for the ILH title during his four seasons. Konawaena’s Bobbie Awa to coach for USA Basketball

Longtime Konawaena girls basketball coach Bobbie Awa will be wearing red, white and blue the next time she coaches a game on the hardwood. USA Basketball has named Awa as one of four court coaches for the upcoming Women’s U17 World Cup Trials May 24-28 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Team Aloha wins Cal hoops tourney

Team Aloha — an all-star girls basketball team from grades nine to 11 representing schools from across the state — finished 5-0 to win the Elite is Earned Spring Invitational basketball tournament held April 20-22 in Walnut Creek Calif. Team Aloha competed in the 17-and-under group of 40 teams. On Friday, Team Aloha beat Salt Lake Metros Gold, 62-35, and NorCal Dynasty Elite, 56-26. Kamehameha releases hoops coach

Joe Cho‘s girls basketball team won a ton of games in his four seasons at Kamehameha. He won’t be back for a fifth. Cho confirmed on Friday afternoon that he has not been retained as coach. Kamehameha was 17-6 overall in the recently completed season, including 8-5 in ILH play.
