‘Iolani senior and two-time state player of the year Elena Oglivie is one of 12 players who have been selected to the U.S. Girls Youth National Team that will play in the FIVB Girls’ U18 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, Sept. 5-14. 8 teams in D-I in ILH girls volleyball as part of pilot program

The ILH will have a different look in girls volleyball this year. Under a one-year pilot program, the league will have eight Division I teams this season with Le Jardin, Hawaii Baptist, Mid-Pacific and Sacred Hearts moving up according to the league schedule. Last season, the ILH had four teams in Division I and 10 teams in Division II, which left the D-I schools playing each other a bunch of times. ‘Iolani’s Elena Oglivie, a two-time All-State girls volleyball player of the year, is one of 24 athletes who have been selected to the U.S. Girls Youth National Training Team. Twelve players will then be selected to represent the United States at the FIVB Girls’ U18 World Championships in September in Cairo, Egypt. ‘Iolani junior outside hitter Elena Oglivie is the Hawaii Gatorade girls volleyball player of the year for the second time, the Gatorade Company announced this week. Oglivie, who previously was named the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State player of the year, led the Red Raiders to the Division I state championship last fall, and had a state-final record 28 kills in an upset of Kamehameha. Elena Oglivie was selected as the Star-Advertiser’s Player of the Year on Sunday, adding to the honor she picked up two years ago as a freshman. Akana, Nichols team up to win Beach Volleyball crown

The team of Keonilei Akana and Jordyn Nichols of Kamehameha defeated Punahou’s team 21-19, 21-14 on Saturday for the Hawaii Beach Volleyball State Prep Championships at Queen’s Beach in Waikiki. Akana is currently a junior who was a key contributor for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu indoor volleyball champions.
