The Punahou girls volleyball team will return to the state tournament after an eternity away by Buffanblu standards. A 25-14, 26-24, 25-18 sweep of Mid-Pacific on Tuesday coupled with No. 3 ‘Iolani’s 25-22, 25-23, 25-19 sweep of No. 2 Kamehameha clinched Punahou’s first berth in the state tournament since 2014. They’ve split their two regular-season matches and now they’re split at the top of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10. Kamehameha and Punahou each received five first-place votes and are tied for No. 1 in the latest rankings released today. The quest for greatness doesn’t begin and end in league play for the ‘Iolani Raiders. The girls volleyball defending state champions returned from Nevada on Sunday after competing in the Durango Classic. The Raiders went 3-0 in pool play, winning every set.
