HHSAA: Fall sports likely to be pushed back 2 weeks

Athletic directors in the Oahu Interscholastic Association have not received official word about a change in the fall sports start date. According to Ian Scheuring of Hawaii News Now, however, the date is Aug. 19. Scheuring’s tweet on Thursday afternoon caught administrators off guard. Two Kahuku alums make a U.S. Collegiate Women’s National Team roster

Utah middle blocker Phoebe Grace and Portland libero Carey Williams, who were teammates at Kahuku, have been named to the 28-player U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team-Anaheim roster made up of current college players. Williams is one of four liberos who made the squad and Grace is one of eight middle blockers. Transgender policy in Hawaii high school sports is being challenged

Cynthia Monteleone is on a quest to educate people on what she perceives as unfairness in Hawaii high school athletics. Monteleone, a track and field coach at Lahainaluna and a world champion age group runner (40-44) in the 400 meters, sent a complaint to the Department of Education’s civil rights office last week. ‘Iolani’s Elena Oglivie collects a third Gatorade Hawaii Player of Year honor

‘Iolani senior outside hitter Elena Oglivie became a three-time winner of the Gatorade Hawaii Girls Volleyball Player of the Year award, the Gatorade Company announced recently. The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence, high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character on and off the field. The 5-foot-11 Oglivie was also the Gatorade Hawaii Player of the Year as a freshman and junior. She had 259 kills and a .401 hitting percentage with 190 digs in the fall. She missed six […]

Elena Oglivie honored as Under Armour All-American

Tuesday morning, Seto Hall, college counseling assembly. Students were treated to a surprise when senior classmate Elena Oglivie was recognized for earning Under Armour All-American volleyball honors. The four-time Star-Advertiser All-State Fab 15 and two-time player of the year selection was presented her All-American jersey. Oglivie, who will play at Stanford next season, will travel to Florida to play in the Dec. 31 match.
