Bitanga is out as Kaiser girls hoops coach

Simon Bitanga will not be back as the Kaiser girls basketball coach, trusted sources told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Hawaii Prep World on Friday. During the winter season, Bitanga had been suspended from his duties temporarily, pending two investigations into wrongdoing by the Department of Education. Moanalua rocks a colorful new scoreboard

For anyone who has been to the Moanalua gym recently, you’ve seen this big, colorful, beautiful new scoreboard. It’s way more than a scoreboard actually. It’s made up of multiple TV screens and can be used for presentations at school assemblies and also by coaches to show live or recorded videos of a practice session for instructional purposes. Molina is MaxPreps fifth-team All-American

Konawaena’s Chanelle Molina, the multi-sport star who is headed to Washington State to play basketball next season, was named to the CBS MaxPreps Girls All-America fifth team Wednesday. Molina comes from a long line of Wildcats stars who have made a statewide impact and beyond. That list also includes Lia Galdeira, who was drafted by the Washington Mystics of the WNBA on Thursday after a stellar career with the WSU Cougars. It’s been quite a ride for Lia Galdeira, and the spotlight just turned a bit brighter. The former Star-Advertiser Girls Basketball All-State Player of the Year from Konawaena was drafted by the WNBA’s Washington Mystics on Thursday. Galdeira is the first high school player from Hawaii to be drafted by the pro league. Three days after Konawaena defended its girls basketball Division I state championship, Chanelle Molina participated in the Mufi Hannemann Jamboree with sisters Celena Jane and Cherilyn and dozens of high school and ex-college players. Then she took one last shot — from halfcourt. First try: All net. Molina will play for Washington State next season. She was honored as Hawaii Gatorade Player of the Year for a third season in a row recently.
