Until Saturday, no team had Maryknoll’s number like Punahou. The exception is No. 1 ‘Iolani, but Punahou had already beaten Maryknoll soundly at the Lady Spartans’ gym and won a nail-biter at Hemmeter Fieldhouse. This time, No. 4 Maryknoll turned the tables with a 36-29 win road win over No. 5 Punahou on Saturday afternoon. Defense leading the way for Kalani during its late-season run

For five minutes, when warmups began, the Lady Falcons of Kalani went straight into defensive mode. All footwork, sliding and angling on their side of the floor, working up a sweat. No basketball. Malie Marfil scored 16 points, Camille Feary tallied 15 and Haley Masaki added 13 as No. 6 Kamehameha pulled out a 63-56 win over No. 5 Punahou on Tuesday night at Kekuhaupio Gymnasium. Aloha Akaka scored 15 points, including two key free throws with 34 seconds left, as No. 6 Maryknoll escaped with a 45-42 win over No. 3 Kamehameha on Friday night. “I love our resiliency.
