Kahuku junior Seau Maiava racks up 16 sacks at PTP Showcase

Seau Maiava is a company man. The speedy outside linebacker from Kahuku took the field in St. George, Utah, for his Highlight-Hawaii Silver team on Friday as 11v11 scrimmages began. Three games later, the 6-foot, 200-pound senior had accumulated 16 sacks — as a defensive end on the strong side. Brother Power: Tua wins 1st start for Miami, Taulia leads Maryland

The weekend was nice, so very nice, for brothers Tua and Taulia Tagovailoa. Tua made his first start as a pro on Sunday, leading Miami over the Los Angeles Rams, 28-17. He didn’t have to throw often, completing 12 of his 22 attempts for 93 yards and one touchdown without a pick. The trophy will be within reach for Tevarua Tafiti and his teammates. The Punahou junior was selected co-MVP of the defensive ends on Saturday, the final day of the PTP Sports National Showcase in St. George, Utah. Day one at the PTP National College Showcase in Utah was just the preliminary. The Hawaii group organized by Nate Kia numbers in the dozens. Thursday’s opening day was comprised of 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 competition. “It was a great day,” Kia said. Today, the event resumes with 11-on-11 play. In the strange year of 2020, the McKinley Tigers just had one of their most important Zoom events. More than a dozen McKinley alumni, students, administrators and coaches provided testimonials at the Ala Moana/Kakaako Neighborhood Board virtual meeting on Tuesday night. McKinley Tigers dreaming of on-campus football stadium

Roosevelt, Kaiser, Moanalua, Radford. Most city schools of Honolulu have on-campus stadiums for football, soccer and track and field. Farrington dedicated its stadium in 2017. McKinley, which began as Fort Street English Day School in 1865, hopes to be next. McKinley is one of the few high schools left in Hawaii that doesn’t have lights on its football/soccer field.
