HHSAA: Cheerleading site, football dates finalized

Winter is coming, and it is clearly part of fall sports. The Zippy’s State Cheerleading Championships will be at Blaisdell Center on Dec. 18, the Hawaii High School Athletic Association announced on Wednesday morning. Polynesian Bowl to be played at Kamehameha’s Kunuiakea Stadium

The renovation of Kunuiakea Stadium will conclude with good timing for the Polynesian Bowl. Kamehameha Schools and the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame announced a multi-year partnership on Tuesday. Kahuku bumps Kamehameha from No. 1 ranking in Star-Advertiser Top 10

No field, no problem for Big Red. Kahuku ascended to the No. 1 position in today’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser Football Top 10, collecting nine of 12 first-place votes to oust Kamehameha. Kahuku overwhelmed Leilehua 55-0 over the weekend and improved to 3-0, outscoring OIA Open Division foes 171-20. Two of three opponents are currently or have previously been in this season’s Top 10 rankings. The Pony Express lives. Between Christian Payton and Michael Hayslett, the Radford Rams have a 1-2 combo at running back that can literally carry the offense. Payton rushed for 147 yards and four touchdowns, while Hayslett rumbled for 123 yards and two more TDs in Radford’s 62-20 victory over McKinley on Saturday night at Skippa Diaz Stadium. They weren’t perfect, but the Saint Louis Crusaders were pretty close. Facing elimination, Saint Louis amassed 464 yards of total offense in a 41-7 runaway win over No. 1 Kamehameha on Friday night at Aloha Stadium. Life in the Open Division can be tough. The Waianae Seariders know that well and made sure the Leilehua Mules understand how tough it is. Leilehua’s debut in OIA Open Division was a 47-6 loss at Raymond Torii Field on Saturday night as Waianae’s Kolu Quisquirin-Sabagala rushed for 129 yards and touchdowns of 6 and 48 yards. Punahou-Kahuku exhibition game has one caveat: Buffanblu must win ILH
