Aiva Arquette scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Saint Louis routed Team X, 87-60, on Friday night at Clarence T.C. Ching Gymnasium. It was a rematch of an earlier exhibition between the Crusaders and the club team, also won by the Crusaders. Saint Louis, basketball powerhouse of 2021. The Crusaders and the rest of Oahu’s private schools saw basketball season officially cancelled by the Interscholastic League of Honolulu last month. National Federation of High Schools: No more tiers on COVID-19 restrictions

The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) has removed tiers from its recommended guidelines regarding COVID-19. The NFHS wrote: “Two of those factors are that prevailing community infection rates appear to be the strongest predictor for high school athletes being infected, and proven cases of direct COVID-19 transmission during athletics remain relatively rare. “The other recommended factors to consider are that participants in non-contact sports show lower rates of COVID-19 infection than those in contact sports, participants in outdoor sports show lower rates […]


Ke Aupuni Hawaii the 1st to join International Basketball Union

The Kingdom of Hawaii basketball organization, Ke Aupuni Hawaii Athletics, is the first member to join the newly-created International Basketball Union. Ke Aupuni Hawaii has played abroad since 2018 with men’s and women’s teams. The roundball adventure for the Sons of Hawaii resumed with two victories on Saturday in Gilbert, Ariz. The team of eighth graders defeated Seattle Rotary 51-30 and Utah Elite 55-51. Sons of Hawaii will play Team Swoosh of New Mexico on Sunday before returning to Oahu. Sons of Hawaii is now 4-2 after its second road trip. Safe Sports Hawaii releases 44-page book of guidelines for all sports

On Wednesday, the Honolulu City Council unanimously approved RES21-018 CD1, submitted by Councilmember Andria Tupola. On Friday evening, Safe Sports Hawaii released a 44-page guide examining its guidelines for protocols and safety, covering everything from ballroom dancing to wrestling. It is official for the continuing mission to bring youth and high school sports back, at least on Oahu. The Honolulu City Council passed RES21-018 CD1, spearheaded by Councilmember Andria Tupola, on Wednesday at Honolulu Hale. The measure was drawn up by Safe Sports Hawaii and passed by a 9-0 vote. Safe Sports Hawaii’s resolution goes before City Council on Wednesday

A measure to open organized youth sports will be on the ledger Wednesday morning at the Honolulu City Council. Safe Sports Hawaii, formerly known as Safe Sports 808, Resolution 21-18 CD1 will be up for vote on adoption and final passage during the meeting.
