It was as close a battle as expected between Mid-Pacific and Moanalua.
In the final eight minutes, the Owls of MPI soared for a 58-43 win in the opening round of the 20th Annual James Alegre Invitational at Radford High School. Colin Ramos scored 20 points and sophomore Elijah Kahue-Parker added 18 for the season-opening win.
Owls coach Ryan Hirata chatted with Hawaii Prep World after the game.
Here is Paul Honda’s Day 1 coverage of the tournament.

Yea coming from someone who probably never played high school b-ball in his life! Keep on hating from the bleachers (Hee-Haw)…smh
Played at a time when there were only 2 Div. You ever seen James Williams or George Smith dunk over your head?
Those 2 could play basketball…that was years ago…short shorts…
Preseason teams has no chemistry yet. Mid Pac all their players plays basketball league together and do clinics all year round. i guarantee Moanalua beats them in the regular season.
