FIRST QUARTER
Both teams with a lot of defensive pressure. Cleveland, from Portland, Ore., using a three-quarter press. That’s been a popular weapon for a lot of teams from here and elsewhere this preseason.

HALFTIME
The half ends with both teams tied at 19.

THIRD QUARTER
Another 8 minutes of defensive prowess and shooting struggles. The Warriors called time out with :01 left and drew up a perfect play to get Stellan Roberts a wide-open 12-foot jumper on the baseline for a 28-25 lead.


FOURTH QUARTER
Crunch time. Back-to-back traveling calls on Cleveland helped Moanalua, which got a layup by Saige Pulu to take a 36-35 lead with 2:25 remaining. Moanalua has the ball back with 1:55 to go after a miss by the Warriors.

Loose ball in the paint. Saige Pulu picks it up and is fouled with 1:31 left. Shooting foul. He swishes the first shot and the second. 38-35. Time out, Cleveland, 1:26.

Moanalua hits one free throw for a 39-35 lead. Cleveland’s Nate Williams is fouled with 1:01 left. Misses the first, makes the second. But Pulu dribbles past midcourt against the press and feeds James Wilkins for a layup. Moanalua leads 41-35. Roberts’ layup cuts it to 41-37. TIme out, :34.4 left.

Roberts deflects Moanalua’s inbounds pass, off Wilkins’ hand. But the Warriors miss an open wing 3 and Wilkins rebounds. Double bonus, :24 left.

Wilkins hits one of two, then Roberts trails the play and hits a 23-footer from straightaway. Time out, Cleveland. Moanalua leads 42-40 with :17.2 left.

Pulu hits one of two, MOA 43-40, :11.8 left. Cleveland ball sideline.


Cleveland gets two open 3-point shots in the final seconds, but misses both. Moanalua advances to the quarterfinal round.
