‘Iolani and Konawaena are the boys and girls No. 1 teams in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Top 10 basketball polls that will be released in the Tuesday edition.
The Raiders were runners-up in the boys state Division I final to Kalaheo a year ago. They return several key players, including Hugh Hogland, Zach Gelacio and Robby Mann.
Punahou is No. 2, followed by Kaiser at No. 3 in the boys poll.
In the girls poll, Konawaena — led by the three Molina sisters, Chanelle, Celena and Cherilyn — is the preseason No. 1. The Wildcats are coming off a Division I state title season, their fifth since 2007.
Lahainaluna is No. 2, followed by Punahou at No. 3.

Can’t wait to see how Kahuku does in basketball. Definitely a football powerhouse but some of their athletes simply transfer over to basketball and use their athleticism to stay competitive with these year round basketball boys.
I’m positive your ranking of Kohala is from last year. There is no way this years team is anywhere near last and quite frankly may be the worst team fielded in recent years.
