Ed Paola is a new associate athletic director at Kamehameha.
“He is a real good fit for us,” Warriors athletic director Glennie Adams said. “He has a wealth of experience in athletic administration. He’s personable and works well with our coaches, parents and student-athletes.”
Paola is one of two Kamehameha associate ADs. The other is Bob Benham. Paola takes the position vacated by Maurice Maggiolino, who is now one of ‘Iolani’s three athletic directors.
Paola, who grew up in Pittsburgh, worked at Saint Louis School from 2005 to ’14 and was the athletic director there from ’10 to ’14. Before his time with the Crusaders, he was an athletic director at a Louisiana high school from 1991 to 2005. His wife, Carmela (Staszkow) grew up in Palolo and is a Sacred Hearts graduate.
“I love it here at Kamehameha,” Paola said. “As an institution, it’s everything I stand for. It fits right into my philosophy of student first, athlete second. Sure we want to win as many state championships as we can, but that’s not the final goal. The goal is to prepare the students for life.”
