Four Division II teams will get to sample Les Murakami Stadium for the first time in the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA State Baseball Championships today.

SCHEDULE
Damien 8, Farrington 3
Radford (12-2) vs. Kapaa (10-3), 1:30 p.m.

Radford 3, Kapaa 2, FINAL

BOT 8: WALK OFF WALK FOR RADFORD. DJ Kabua walks with the bases loaded and Radford is set to take on Damien for the Division II state championship tomorrow.

TOP 8: Akana is nails yet again with another 1-2-3 inning. He’s at 85 pitches after eight. Rams with another chance to win it here.

BOT 7: We’re headed to extras here at Les Murakami Stadium. The Rams had a golden chance with runners on first and second with one out, but Matt Lukins lined into a double play. Akana is out there for the eighth since he’s only at 74 pitches and has tossed a gem thus far.

TOP 7: Levi Cummings leads off the inning with a single, gets moved over to second, but then gets picked off trying to steal third. 2-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh. One run is all the Rams need to clinch a spot in tomorrow’s Division II championship game with Damien.

BOT 6: The Rams had their chance with freshman catcher Gavin Buchanan up with the bases loaded and two outs, but he grounds out to second and we head into the seventh knotted at 2.

TOP 6: With the top of the order up, Kupihea gets Kapaa’s first hit of the game with a liner to center. Ekolu Rivera has the Warriors’ second hit of the game to score Kupihea from second and ties things up.

BOT 5: Kupihea is settling down as well with another 1-2-3 inning. Kapaa has six outs to either tie up this game or take the lead.

TOP 5: Radford leads 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth. Don’t want to jinx it, but Akana is six outs away from finishing something special. At just 55 pitches, he’ll definitely have the breathing room to do it as far as pitch count is concerned.

BOT 4: Radford takes its first lead of the game after its first hit of the game, a Carter Ogino single that scores Daniel May from second.

TOP 4: Through three and a half innings, there are still no hits between these two teams, 1-1 entering the bottom of the fourth,.

BOT 3: Cardinez gets pulled after throwing just one pitch in the bottom of the third. Kade Kuhipea comes in from second and inherits a 1-0 count on Michael Gauna. Kuhipea issues two walks but is helped out by two baserunning errors to get out of the inning unscathed.

TOP 3: Akana is starting to get in a groove with another 1-2-3 inning in seven pitches. He’s at 36 pitches after three frames.

BOT 2: With the bases loaded and no outs, the Rams can only out one run across the board after DJ Kabua‘s sacrifice fly scores Damon Nelson. Isaac Grant is thrown out at third on the same play to end the inning.

TOP 2: It’s Akana’s turn to toss a 1-2-3 inning, setting the Warriors down in order.

BOT 1: Three up and three down for Cardinez, who needs just 11 pitches to get the Rams down in order.

TOP 1: Kapaa scores in the top of the first after leadoff hitter Kade Kuhipea gets hit by a pitch, moves over to second after a sacrifice bunt, then steals third. With two outs, Kaimi Malina hits a routine ground ball to third baseman Matt Lukins but a fielding error allows Kuhipea to score.

BOT 7: Kajiwara gets the first out and is taken out at 30 pitches, keeping him eligible for tomorrow.

TOP 7: River Iaea doubles for his second hit and Paul Mezurashi reaches on an infield single to drive in Damien’s eighth run. Second and third with two outs and Farrington brings in Treven Isobe. Isobe out of it in two pitches.

TOP 6: Akila Arecchi leads off with a single, steals second and takes third on a wild pitch and that’s enough to force Farrington to make a pitching change. Shayden Fujimoto is the fourth Govs pitchers of the game. Fujimoto nearly gets out of it but a two-out throwing error gets the run in from third. 7-3.

BOT 4: Caleb Sherman works a leadoff walk and scores on Jayden Soriano‘s sacrifice fly. RJ Wong and Shayden Fujimoto follow with two-out singles as Fujimoto’s hit brings in Reese Shioji and chases Gainey, who was cruising until one out in the fourth. Chasen Castilliano with a single back up the box and that drives in Wong to make it 6-3. A walk loads the bases and Kaysen Kajiwara comes in to pitch. One pitch and Kajiwara is out of the jam.

TOP 4: Soriano on in relief of Sherman to start the inning. After a hit and two walks, Shioji enters in relief. Jordan Donahue rips two balls deep to right but both are foul. He settles for a walk to bring in a run. Kaimana Cameron walks in another run before Damien gets a pop out in foul territory at first and then Caleb Sherman guns down the runner tagging from third at the plate for a double play.

TOP 3: A two-out single and a two-out walk sets up Kamakani Motas, who blasts a two-run triple to right field. An error on a slow grounder to third and Motas scores for a 4-0 lead.

TOP 2: Kaysen Kajiwara singles to leadoff and goes to second on a bunt. An error on the pickoff throw to second looms large as Paul Mezurashi‘s grounder to short is enough to score Kajiwara for an unearned run.
