The Mililani Trojans’ chances of a repeat state title took a big hit with an injury to starting quarterback McKenzie Milton. That opened the door for Kahuku, under first-year coach Vavae Tata, to execute the perfect game plan and rout Saint Louis in the final.
Tata was coach of the year and defensive back Keala Santiago was the defensive player of the year. Mililani running back Vavae Malepeai broke Joe Igber‘s career rushing record in the state of Hawaii and was the offensive player of the year.

How can a player who was selected 2nd team All Star in his Conference end up 1st team All State?

if you have a good playoff run and ball out, they will pick you for All State regardless of regular season play. “BS”
I seen kids make conference player of the year and not even make 2nd or 3rd team All-State cause their team didn’t do good in playoffs! SAD
