Tomorrow’s semifinals are set at the Hawaii Officials Tournament with Leilehua still in the lead in the team race.
Baldwin has snuck into second place with Moanalua in third.
Wynter Brown of Pearl City pulled off the biggest upset in the quarterfinals, sticking Lahainaluna’s Kauanoe Keahi in 3:26 to prevent an anticipated big finals matchup with Baldwin’s Jahnei Miguel. Keahi is ranked No. 10 in Hawaiiprepworld’s pound-for-pound and Miguel sits at No. 8.
Brown beat Maudestie Alvarado of Nanakuli in just 37 seconds in her first match and meets Paige Respicio of Kamehameha tomorrow morning. Respicio pinned Prado Domingo of Campbell in 56 seconds in her only match on Friday.
Miguel takes on Jaylyin Paaaina of Kaiser in the other semifinal
Campbell’s Charity Curran pulled off the other surprise, pinning second-seeded Kamehameha’s Alexis Nova Posiulai in 4:59.
The big event is still on, but it was in a little danger. Leilehua’s Kelani Corbett beat Shayna Kamaka of Baldwin by a slim 6-5 score and Jennie Fuamatu of Pearl City nipped Moanalua’s Patricia Ching 4-2.
Corbett is ranked No. 2 and faces Kapolei’s Alyandina Bushe in tomorrow’s semis. Fuamatu meets Kyara Velez of Radford.
