The 2017 Honolulu Star-Advertiser football All-State teams were published on Sunday with Saint Louis quarterback Chevan Cordeiro and Waianae linebacker Kana’i Mauga winning top honors in the state.
You can see the full team here.
As a treat for Hawaii Prep World readers, we counted down to the release of the team by looking at some of the greats of years past.
Because they were so popular, we will keep going and eventually have a list of every all-star team from each year.
Saint Louis continued its dominance in 1995 with quarterback Darnell Arceneaux, who went on to play at Utah, sweeping offensive player of the year honors from both newspapers. The Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin agreed on the top defensive player as well, giving the award to Waianae’s Chris Paogofie.
Unanimous first-team selections from both newspapers included Saint Louis offensive lineman Dominic Raiola, Kamehameha defensive lineman Billy Pieper, Saint Louis linebacker Jacob Yoro, Saint Louis defensive back Wes Tufaga and Punahou defensive back West Pratt.

1995..Exciting year. Punahou looked real good with Afa and Jason unstoppable on both sides of the ball
The triple threat at Kahuku (Jason, Ken, Issac) were demolishing everyone only fearing Paogofie in the OIA.
Saint Louis worked through the challenges and finished on top again.
