1968 prep football all-star teams

‘Iolani finished with the ILH championship, but McKinley had one more player selected to the league all-star team in 1968 by the Honolulu Advertiser.

‘Iolani senior linebacker John Parker was the only repeat selection from a year earlier and was the lineman of the year. McKinley quarterback Ronald Autele was the back of the year and ‘Iolani’s Eddie Hamada won coach of the year honors. Both newspaper agreed on all of those selections.

Radford swept the Star-Bulletin’s top OIA awards with halfback Bernard Rembert and guard Etuale Suafoa winning the back of the year and lineman of the year awards. John Velasco was the coach of the year.

The Honolulu Advertiser agreed on Rembert and Velasco, but chose to go with Waianae co-captain Alehandro Clarabal as its lineman of the year.

Waianae’s Warren Ellis was a repeat selection on offense but failed to win the back of the year award for a second time. The Seariders had more all-star selections than OIA champion Radford.
