8:47: Rico’s 50-yard field goal attempt is short. ‘Iolani ball at its own 20. 2:11 to go.

8:44: It’s fourth down and 6 at the Raiders’ 33 for Lahainaluna with 2:16 left.

8:40: With 4:02 left, on fourth and 1, Tihada gains 2 yards for a first down to keep the chains moving.

8:35: Onside kick is recovered by Lahainaluna.

8:33: Mizutani hits Yokogawa for the 2-point conversion. LAHAINALUNA 35, ‘IOLANI 27, 5:50 left in game.

8:31: Mizutani goes left and just gets inside the pylon for a 6-yard touchdown. The Raiders are going for 2.

8:28:Two Mizutani runs pick up 14 yards to the 6. 5:58 to go in the game.

8:27: Miyazawa catches a 30-yard pass on the sideline to get the ball to the Lahainaluna 20.

8:25: The Lunas can’t move and punt.

8:21: A 47-yard pass from Mizutani to Miyazawa helps the Raiders drive as far as the Lahainaluna 3, but they lose the ball on downs. Lahainaluna ball.

FOURTH QUARTER

8:11: Third quarter ends.

8:06: On the next play, Tihada can’t bring in a high snap and he recovers the ball in the end zone and is downed for a safety by ‘Iolani’s Kaua Nishigaya. LAHAINALUNA 35, ‘IOLANI 19, 1:48 left in third quarter.

8:03: On a fourth and goal from the 3, Mizutani scrambles and dives for the goal line but is stopped at the 2 by Tui Lai.

7:59: Despite 28 yards in penalties, the Raiders are marching. Mizutani runs of 22 and 10 yards keep it going and get it to the Lunas’ 3.

7:56: Rico’s field-goal attempt is blocked by Lanakila Pei.

7:53: It’s fourth down and 6 for the Lunas and Pablo Rico comes in for a 52-yard field goal.

7:51: Ragudo gains 22 yards on a sweep and the Lunas set up shop at the ‘Iolani 39.

7:48: A 17-yard Mizutani pass to Carter Kamana and Mizutani’s 16-yard run sets up Mizutani’s 37-yard TD pass to Miyazawa. Makekau adds the extra point. LAHAINALUNA 35, ‘IOLANI 17, 9:14 left in third quarter.

7:44: Lahainaluna goes three and out and punts on its first possession of the second half.

7:16: Etuati Storer picks off a Mizutani pass and the Lunas take over on the ‘Iolani 26.

7:14: Elijah Ragudo sweeps right for a 62-yard TD. Rico adds the extra point. LAHAINALUNA 28, ‘IOLANI 10, 1:49 left in first half.

7:07: Three plays later, Mizutani runs 9 yards for a TD. Makekau kicks the extra point. LAHAINALUNA 21, ‘IOLANI 10, 3:22 left in first half.

7:05: A Mizutani pass to Jonah Miyazawa covers 22 yards and a Mizutani runs of 18 and 9 yards helps the Raiders get to the Lunas’ 1.

7:00: Tihada gets 3 yards on a fourth and one to keep Lahainaluna’s drive alive. Two plays later, Laakea Shim goes up the middle for a 39-yard TD run. LAHAINALUNA 21, ‘IOLANI 3, 4:55 left in first half.

6:54: Tausinga Hafoka sacks Mizutani on a third down play and the Raiders punt.

6:49: Tihada runs 42 yards up the middle to cap a 99-yard drive. LAHAINALUNA 14,’IOLANI 3, 8:59 left in second quarter.

6:45: On a fourth and 1, Tihada picks up the first down with a 3-yard gain to the 46.

6:40: The Lunas show some guts and run a sweep left from the 1 yard line. Tihada takes it to the 13-yard line. Three plays later, Tihada, the wildcat quarterback, runs 20 yards on an option up the middle to the 34.

6:37: ‘Iolani can’t move and punts. Mizutani’s 63-yard punt is downed at the 1.

6:30: Five plays later, Joshua Tihada scores on a 1-yard, up-the-middle run. Pablo Rico kicks the extra point. LAHAINALUNA 7, ‘IOLANI 3, 3:23 left in the first quarter.

6:29: Elijah Radudo runs 26 yards for a first down at the Raiders’ 22.

6:28: Lahainaluna’s Laakea Shim recovers a Mizutani fumble at the Lunas’ 47.

6:24: The Lunas don’t move and punt. Raiders ball at the Lunas’ 46.

6:20: Mika Makekau kicks a 28-yard field goal. ‘IOLANI 3, LAHAINALUNA 0, 8:24 left in first quarter.

6:16: Raiders have a fourth and 13. Mizutani scrambles and finds Jake Yokogawa for 14 yards and a first down at the Lunas’ 14.

6:14: Lahainaluna is whistled for an illegal substitution penalty. First down ‘Iolani at the Lunas’ 48.

6:11: ‘Iolani will punt. Lahainaluna’s 6:09: First down and 10 at the 27 for the Raiders after the kickoff. Etuati Storer nearly intercepts a Tai-John Mizutani pass.

6:06: Raiders arrive on the field.

6:05: Raiders were not on the field for the national athem, Hawaii Pono’i and the alma maters.

5:42: Both teams are on the field warming up. Kickoff is about 25 minutes away.

The First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships begin tonight with two semifinal games in Division II.

At War Memorial Stadium, Lahainaluna (9-1) looks to become the second team ever to repeat as Division II state champions against the team that did it many times, ‘Iolani (4-5). The Lunas hold a clear advantage with their running game, but the Raiders do own the most impressive victory of either team this season, a 45-29 win over St. Francis.
