Linebacker Dylan Toilolo, who made the Honolulu Star-Advertiser All-State first team as a junior in 2016 at Saint Louis, has transferred to Kapolei.
Hurricanes coach Darren Hernandez said Friday that Toilolo, who is 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, will play linebacker and strong safety. He joined the team on Thursday.
“Great feet and hips. He can run extremely well and above all is a big time hitter,” Hernandez texted.
Toilolo joins a defense that already has linebacker Kukea Emmsley, who holds nine Division I scholarship offers, and defensive tackle Aaron Faumui, a transfer from the mainland who won the Division II state title as a sophomore at Radford. Faumui holds six offers, including one from Wisconsin.
Another linebacker, Rocky Savea, also holds offers from Texas Tech and Oregon State.
Kapolei is coming off its best season in school history, finishing 10-3 and advancing to the semifinals of the state tournament in the Open Division.
Wow. Da pipeline mean. I thought this boy was from nanakuli?
He should have went back home to Defend the Valley. Let me guess Kapolei has better academics?
Prime example that St. Louis don’t offer full rides no more. Couldn’t even afford to keep all state LB.

This kid is an amazing player. Big loss for St.Louis defense. Hopefully he can finish out his senior year strong at Kapolei and move on to D1 college ball in the near future.
Who knows why he went transfer? I seen him make some mean hits. He broke the Kamehameha QB’s collarbone with a vicious hit.
nobody wants to play for nanakuli…good move for toilolo…hate to say but that nanakuli boy would have rather played for waianae then play for the hawks……#nobodywantstodefendthevalley##
Hope this is the best move for him
This kid is a hitter. Wonder what happened. Good luck at Kapolei, but also curious as to why kids don’t want to “defend the valley”.
@Rrforlifebaby…..top elite athletes from the valley choose to play football @ waianae, kapolei,st louis,kam,damien,pac-5,pearl city……every school and probably more has kids from the valley and they are key players…the football program is going down hill with the inexperienced staff…Keala watson did good in the white division years ago but the hawks is in the big bad Red and dont have the numbers or the coaching to compete..In this day in nanakuli its hard to keep kids home with a weak football program…too bad abu maafala is taken cause he lives a block away from nanakuli high school….when this horrible season ends nanakuli gotta reopen the head coaching job and hire a well qualified head coach and bring in better coaches…maybe if that happens the kids will come…..#anewstart2018#
