On Thursday and Friday, Hawaii Prep World will run a series of snippets focusing on eight players we dub as Honolulu Star-Advertiser “Unsung Scrappers.”

One player from each of the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s eight teams involved in this weekend’s Division I quarterfinals were chosen by their head coaches.

SIXTH IN A SERIES

KAISER’S RHYS GALEAI

>> Position: Center, linebacker
>> Grade: Senior
>> Weight: 241 pounds
>> Jersey number: 55

COUGARS head coach Arnold Martinez on Rhys Galeai:

“Rhys is our starting center, but he also started two games at the mike linebacker position. He’s still a backup as a mike ‘backer. We’ve been averaging 25 players in our games all year, so guys gotta go both ways and play on mot of the special teams. He actually plays on three of our special teams. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Rhys is that he is as tough as nails in the trenches and he’s out there banging. He’s a team leader and his work ethic is the best, bar none. He’s at every meeting, every workout. He never misses practice and he’s giving 100 percent every time, every day. He does all the hard work in the trenches and he deserves the props, for sure. We love him.”
