Savai‘i Eselu is the new football head coach at Moanalua, according to the Moanalua athletics Twitter account.

The account administrator tweeted: “Welcome new head football coach alumni Savai’i Eselu … MENE RESPECT ABOUT TO BE EARNED.”

Eselu is a former Na Menehune tight end who played college football at Cal. He graduated from Moanalua in 2007.

Former Hawaii football assistant Dennis McKnight was also a candidate for the job, and he is also expected to be a candidate for the open Kamehameha football job. He spent last season as a Warriors assistant at the Kapalama campus.

Eselu takes over for Jason Cauley, who moved back to Alabama after two years as Moanalua’s head coach.

Good luck to him with all the recuiritng the ILH schools do. He won’t be left with much to form a roster.
I thought he had originally verballed to play for UH. Him and another Pake surnamed Samoan from Moanalua. I think Tang was the last name.
