It’s possible Kahuku defensive end Bradlee Anae could go where Red Raiders head coach Vavae Tata last worked as an assistant. That’s Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Anae, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder who was a large force in Kahuku’s run to the Division I state championship in 2015, was making his visit at Oregon State on Saturday when Hawaii Prep World contacted him.
Last week, Anae took an official visit to Vanderbilt.
“Vanderbilt has elite academics and it’s in the SEC and that’s great,” he said. “Oregon State is a really big school, a large, well-known place. They have the tools there to become a great football team, and Corvallis is a nice town.”
If Anae chooses Oregon State, he would be hooking up with former Kahuku players LaMone Williams, a defensive tackle, and Tuli Wily-Matagi, a tight end. Hirkley Latu, Anae’s 2015 Red Raiders teammate, recently visited Oregon State and it’s possible Latu could be headed there.
“It would be fun if we do decide to go to the same school,” Anae said about Latu, “but we’re both going to choose what’s best for our paths.”
Anae will visit BYU on Wednesday and Thursday and then Utah on Friday and Saturday.
Talking about his time at Vandy and Oregon State, he said: “We go out and eat a lot, like 3-4 times a day, and just hanging out with the players at night. It’s cool to see how they interact with each other.”
Anae said he’s leaving his options open and doesn’t plan on announcing his final decision until national letter of intent signing day Feb. 3.
He gotta be the son of Brad Anae, former Kahuku and BYU star. Nephew of Robert Anae, offensive coordinator in Div 1 NCAA football who has moved around a lot recently. I don;t know where he is now. He was previously at TCU, then BYU. I am going to assume he is Mormon. But kids have always wanted to play at the highest level of football. BYU has lost out on Mormon kids who wanted to play at a higher level. Manti Teo for one. Even the keiki o ka aina, the kanaka maoli, born and raised in the islands, always choose Pac-12 instead of UH if given the offer. Hauoli Jamora of Kahuku signed with Washington in the Pac-12 instead of UH. Dylan Kane of Kamehameha chose Oregon last year. Probably never even considered UH. Speaking of Manti Teo, has he come out of the closet yet? I would never ask a Punahou teammate of Manti Teo if he thought he was a mahu. But I did come across one at a club and I only went as far as asking him if Manti had a girlfriend while at Puanhou. His answer was “not that I knew of, unless he did a really good job of keeping her secret”.
Who cares if Manti came out of the closet or not? I don’t care that “88” likes boys. Why should anyone care and why is that any of our business?

Anae is a beast, He has a high motor and will fill out very nicely. If he stays healthy he will go in the first round of the NFL draft. Was almost a tragedy that we didnt get to see this kid play his senior year after he punched and broke a kids jaw mid season and got suspended 4 games. RR4L \,,/_
