The second week of tournament season in boys basketball wrapped up with a championship for Kailua.
The Surfriders beat Mid-Pacific 53-38 to take the title in the Surfrider Classic. Getting to the final on their home floor was no easy feat, as Kailua needed double overtime to beat Baldwin 54-46 in the semifinals. Mid-Pacific beat St. Francis 57-51.
Jonah Kalai scored 12 points and Noah Ahyat added 11 points to lead Kailua (5-0). Zachary Marrotte added 10.
“This is the most balanced team we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Kailua Coach Wally Marciel said.
Major Davis led the Owls with 16 points. Jason Kimura chipped in nine points.
St. Francis beat a tired Baldwin squad 70-57 for third place.
Punahou II beat Waianae 54-48 and Waipahu beat Campbell 60-59 on the second day.
Punahou, Saint Louis unbeaten at Alegre
ILH powers Punahou and Saint Louis went unbeaten through four tough days at the Alegre Tournament at Radford over the weekend.
The Buffanblu finished up their run with a 66-39 win over Farrington and the Crusaders beat Moanalua 60-53.
Punahou scored more than 66 points in each game but Saint Louis had the highest offensive output of the tournament with 89 against host Radford.

Maryknoll tops at McKinley
Just as Punahou and Saint Louis ruled at Radford, the ILH was tops at the McKinley Self Storage Classic.
Maryknoll rolled through the tournament undefeated, holding two opponents under 35 points. The Spartans beat McKinley 55-35, Kahuku 49-41 and Kalani 63-37.
Kalani and Kapolei hooked up in the most entertaining game, a 64-56 win by the Falcons in overtime.
