Konawaena-Brea Olinda stats

You can find the updated info on tonight’s ‘Iolani Classic girls final here, a 50-40 win by Konawaena over nationally-ranked Brea Olinda (Calif.).

Some final stats that I added up: Konawaena shot 18-for-43 from the field (42 percent); Brea Olinda shot 15-for-44 (34 percent).

The Wildcats were 2-for-5 from 3-point range; the Ladycats were 2-for-16 (13 percent).

Kona shot just 50 percent from the free-throw line (12-for-24); Brea Olinda was 8-for-11 (73 percent).

Brea Olinda got the edge on the boards 22-20 and had nine offensive boards. Konawaena had eight on the offensive glass, including four by Hoku Liftee.

The Wildcats had just 11 assists with 14 turnovers, unusual to have a negative ratio, but Brea Olinda played good defense. Brea Olinda had just five assists with 21 turnovers — that is a huge tell on how this game ebbed and flowed.

Konawaena got 14 steals off its halfcourt man-to-man defense. Brea Olinda had three steals.

And Keitra Wallace, Brea Olinda’s solid post, had 18 points with eight boards. She will suit up for Pepperdine next year.

Lia Galdeira (15 points, six rebounds, four steals) was named most outstanding player of the tourney. Dawnyelle Awa (eight points, five assists) was named most valuable player.
