Farrington has rested up since pulling out a 21-14 win over the Sabers two weeks ago at Aloha Stadium. Campbell’s defense was outstanding that night, but hasn’t had a bye week since late August.
Last week’s 27-21 win at Kaiser was epic, but the Sabers will need more of that postseason mojo.
They might get it by grinding this out, the same way they did in the fourth quarter against Kaiser with a 7-minute-plus drive for the go-ahead TD. Terell Johnson is relatively healthy, and if coach Amosa Amosa‘s O-line can sustain a consistent ground game against a formidable Farrington defense, there is hope.
Kawika Ulufale is playing his best football. He hit 21 of his 27 attempts for 239 yards last week, spreading the ball around. His prime target, Noah Esprecion, has been a huge factor (59 receptions, 740 yards, five TDs).
The Govs lost some momentum with back-to-back losses to Mililani and Kapolei late in the regular season, but showed offensive balance and less predictability on the whole. Junior Challen Faamatau (1,004 rushing yards, 483 receiving yards, 17 combined TDs) is threat on offense and in the kick return game. Blake Rapoza has been able to go deep to Kingston Moses-Sanchez (37 catches, 540 yards, six TDs) and Faamatau.
