Waiakea’s Louie Ondo and Pac-Five’s Jordan Jones were the top Hawaii finishers at Saturday’s ‘Iolani Invitational held at Kualoa Ranch.
Ondo finished eighth in the boys 3-mile race with a time of 16 minutes, 30.87 seconds. Punahou’s Connor Lehl was 10th in 16:35.84 and ‘Iolani’s Royce Garcia placed 15th with a time of 16:54.17. Kalaheo’s Avery Torres was 20th in 17:05.68.
Andrew Burkhardt of JSerra Catholic (Calif.) won the boys race for the second consecutive year with a time of 15:27.24. Runners from Dana Hills (Calif.) placed third through seventh to win the team title with 25 points.
Jones, who attends St. Andrew’s Priory, placed fourth in the girls 3-mile race with a time of 19:00.18. Mililani’s Vanessa Roybal was fifth in 19:08.68 and Seabury Hall’s Ava Shipman placed sixth in 19:10.24. Teri Brady of Punahou finished ninth in 19:24.74.
Jacquelyn Smith of Palos Verdes (Calif.) won the girls race in 18:37.05. Her teammates Camille Hines and Alexandra Regan placed second and third to help Palo Verdes win the team title with 24 points.
