Saint Louis junior quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hurt his calf in Saturday’s 31-27 victory over Kamehameha, according to Crusaders head coach Cal Lee.

Tagovailoa missed parts of the game and returned, and Lee said his status is “day-to-day.”

“He sprained his calf,” Lee said. “He hasn’t practiced this week, so we’ll see how it goes. We’ll know by Friday. If he’s moving around by then, he’ll play. If not, he’ll have to sit out.”

Backup quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, a sophomore, has been effective in spot duty for Saint Louis, the No. 1 team in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Top 10. He has thrown for 117 yards and a touchdown while completing 12 of 13 passes in three games.

Tagovailoa has thrown for 744 yards in three games with 10 touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed for 172 yards and two TDs.

During a sensational sophomore season a year ago, Tagovailoa passed for 2,571 yards and 33 touchdowns with only three interceptions and rushed for 553 yards and another eight TDs.

This kid is good, I hope he gets better soon. Guarantee UH wont get him but they should at least offer him to avoid another Marcus fiasco.

This kid threw a dime in the Kamehameha game off his back foot running to his right at least 40yards on the mark. Unreal.
