Week 3 of the high school football season is nearly here. The ILH is still three weeks out from starting its season while every OIA team will have played at least one league game after Saturday. We dive into the engine to bring you some game notes for Friday’s games.

ILH

Saint Louis (0-0) vs. Fagaitua (Samoa), 7:30 p.m., Aloha Stadium

>> Cal Lee had never lost a season opener at Saint Louis until last year against Mililani, snapping a streak of 20 straight wins. Lee, who has coached in five different decades, is 2-0 against foreign teams, beating Kansai (Japan) 46-0 in 1998 and Samoana 55-6 in 2000.

Kamehameha (2-0) at Hilo (0-1), 7:30 p.m., Wong Stadium

>> The only time these two schools have played in the last 42 years was 2009, when the Warriors won 44-3 behind 161 rushing yards by Ryan Ho.

>> Hilo’s last win against an Oahu school was in 1975.

OIA Red

Kaiser (0-2, 0-1) at No. 4 Kahuku (2-0, 1-0), 7:30 p.m.

>> Kaiser won its first game against Kahuku in 25 years last year, scoring in the final seconds to pull off a 20-19 stunner at Kaiser Stadium.

>> In the last three meetings at Carleton Weimer Field, Kahuku has outscored the Cougars 132-6.

>> Kaiser has given up 96 points in two games and 240 in its last five games (48.0 ppg). The Cougars have not started 0-3 since 2010 when it went winless but would have started 0-3 in 2011 if not for a Nanakuli forfeit in the season opener.

>> Kahuku has started 4-0 in five of the last six seasons. The Red Raiders have had a running back rush for more than 100 yards only once in their last 11 games.

>> Kaiser has had at least one player rush for at least 100 yards seven times in its last five games. QB Nic Tom and RB Jensen McDaniel have rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the Cougars’ first two games. McDaniel has rushed for 100 yards in seven of 11 career games. He had 98 in the win over Kahuku last year.

Waianae (1-1, 1-0) at Castle (1-1, 1-0), 7:30 p.m.

>> Castle, coming off a 33-32 victory over Campbell last week, has not won back-to-back games since 2011.

>> Castle hasn’t had a 100-yard rusher in its last 50 games. The last was Garrett Paredes (106 yards) in 2009 against Kailua.

>> Castle hasn’t had a receiver go over 100 yards in three straight games since Shaydon Kehano, Castle’s career record holder, did it in six straight games in 2009. Junior Jeremy McGoldrick had 181 yards in the loss to Kailua and 173 yards against the Sabers.

>> Waianae is 10-2 against Castle since 1988 and 14-3 overall.

>> Seariders QB Jaren Ulu threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns in an overtime win over Moanalua last week. Waianae has had only two 200-yard passing performances total in its last 39 games.

McKinley (0-2, 0-1) at Waipahu (0-1, 0-1), 7:30 p.m.

>> The Tigers have won five of seven meetings since 1992.

>> McKinley has lost 10 straight since its last win — 36-15 over Waipahu in 2013.

>> Waipahu is 1-12 in its last 13 games with its only win coming against the Tigers last season (28-12).

OIA BLUE

Moanalua (1-1, 0-1) at Aiea (1-1, 1-0), 7:30 p.m.

>> Na Menehune has won three straight against Na Alii. Prior to that, Aiea had won 15 out of 17.

>> Aiea can start 2-0 in league play with a win for the second straight year. Prior to last season, Na Alii hadn’t done that since 2003.

>> No Aiea quarterback has thrown for more than 388 yards in a game ever. Moanalua has had a QB top that mark in a game four times since the start of the 2013 season.

OIA White

Kalaheo (0-2, 0-1) vs. Kalani (0-2, 0-1) at Kaiser, 7:30 p.m.

>> Kalaheo leads the all-time series 21-5 but has lost three of the last four meetings.

>> Kalaheo hasn’t started a season 0-3 since 2005.

>> The Falcons have made the OIA D-II playoffs each of the last two years after never playing in a playoff game prior to that.

>> Kalani has won eight of its last 13 OIA games but has lost five consecutive games overall.

>> The Mustangs have lost six in a row since beating Anuenue last year.

>> Kalaheo junior QB Mark Lehrner threw for 231 yards last week in a 28-14 loss to Nanakuli. It was the first 200-yard passing game by a Mustangs QB since Rashaan Matalolo threw for 273 yards in a 42-26 loss to Waipahu in 2011 (31 games).
