Mililani moved up one spot to No. 6 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings on Sunday after Saturday’s 73-14 victory over McKinley.
The defending Division I state champion Trojans (1-0) were in double digits (No. 18) when the season’s first rankings came out on Aug. 8 and went to No. 7 last week.
Ned Freeman, a MaxPreps.com associate, made the computer model for the rankings, which, according to the site, are the result of a collection of “enormous amounts of information from teams” throughout the nation.
The Trojans are No. 1 in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Top 10. The teams tied at No. 2 — Saint Louis and Punahou — are Nos. 28 and 42 nationally.
The Crusaders open their season Friday against defending American Samoa champion Fagaitua. The Buffanblu (2-0) are coming off a 59-0 home win over Hilo.
