He’s been known to defer when it comes to media attention, but ‘Iolani junior Keoni-Kordell Makekau has emerged under the spotlight to become a true three-sport juggernaut. He chatted with Hawaii Prep World after another busy day on the track, winning the ILH championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.01 seconds.
The 5-foot-11, 166-pound junior has football scholarship offers from Washington State and Hawaii. So far.
There has been another 3 sport phenom the last three years at Kamehameha Kapalama. Her name is Sarah Lau! First team Division 1 All State selections in both Volleyball and Soccer and a two time first team All ILH selection in track as a sprinter. She just helped the Kamehameha Kapalama varsity girls track team win the ILH Championships this past weekend. She scored points in all three events she ran in and also anchored the winning girls 4×100 relay race for the second straight year. She accepted a Soccer scholarship to play for the home team University of Hawaii this coming fall. She stands 5’11 and 120 pounds. She was a starting setter/opposite for the lady warriors volleyball team and a three year starting defender for the lady warriors soccer team. She runs all the relays and the 200 and 400 meters for the 2015 ILH Champions track team. She was also very fortunate to make the All Tournament teams of the State Championship Tournaments for both Volleyball and Soccer.
