It’s probably a good thing Kaiser’s Cameron Higgins didn’t make a big deal out of his first win as a head coach.
It has been taken away from him.
Kaiser forfeited its season-opening win when an underclassman who was later found to be on academic probation entered the Cougars’ 52-7 blowout of Aiea with about 3 minutes left in the game.
No worries, the Cougars got a legitimate win two weeks later with another blowout.
The forfeiture in no way puts the playoffs in jeopardy for Kaiser, but it does mean a tougher road than expected. Kaiser is now 1-2, tied with Castle and dates with the Knights and winless McKinley still to be played.
UPDATE 9/8: After consulting with the league and the NFHS, individual statistics from the game will still count for the season.
