I hadn’t been back to Waianae since last year, so this was a treat. If not for a busy Saturday, I would’ve tried out that restaurant on the main road that Eli Kapu always raves about. But they close after lunch.
Instead, I got there before kickoff and shot game video from ground level. That’s sometimes more intense and entertaining, especially when run-first teams are involved.
Castle showed a lot of mettle and actually kept the Seariders ground game under control for awhile. But it didn’t last. Waianae has superior depth and size, and eventually, they rolled to a 37-7 playoff win.
The Searider fans were jovial for the most part. There was one guy sitting — mostly standing, actually — who loved to lead the cheering and singing. I’ll show him on the game video later. He was great.
Best sunset view in the OIA? No question. Rates up there with the views at Kamehameha and Kealakehe.
