Kahuku collected 11 of 12 first-place votes to remain a staunch No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Football Top 10 on Monday.
Kahuku’s 2021 squad defended its OIA Open Division title (2019) over the weekend with a 21-14 come-from-behind win over Mililani. Kahuku has not won an Open Division state championship yet. Its previous state title came in 2015 in Division I, prior to the installation of Open Division.
No. 2 Saint Louis collected the remaining first-place vote. The ILH champions will play Mililani on Saturday in the Open Division semifinals. The Crusaders have not played a game since Nov. 5, when they defeated Kamehameha 35-21 for the league crown.
Saint Louis is the four-time defending Open Division state champion with titles in ’16, ’17, ’18 and ’19. The 2020 high school football season in Hawaii was cancelled.

Yes, Kahuku #1 plays Campbell #4. Then St.Louis #2 plays #3 Mililani.
It’s all the same! Open, division 1. Same format for playoffs. Just be ready! #9 is coming back north! #WeAreTheNorth #TheNorthRemembers #KingInTheNorth
In 2019 Saint Louis was #1 seed, did not play #4 seed, played Mililani #3 seed, i guess they want Saint Louis to go the harder route to the title. No matter at the end is what matters, go Crusaders, well rested and ready to rumble.
ILH,, St.Louis wants that route. Play all the top teams. They are like Bishop Gorman, play the best, beat the best, get national rank. All the 4 teams have the same plan. Win the next 2, State Champions.
In 2015 when two ILH teams were in the tourney they put Puns #4 and STL #1 in seperate brackets because it would be redundant for the top 2 ILH teams to be in the same bracket, same with the top 2 OIA teams..they are placed in opposite brackets. STL should just be happy they have some where to play considering they recruit and use every looohole in the system to their advantage. They are not held to the same restrictions and bylaws of the OIA.
ILH so sorry to burst your bubble having kahuku play Mililani back to back is your ideal of harder route to the title when your team hasn’t played in over a month well rested fully recovered from injury as you sit back and watch the 2 best in the oia battle it out on the field and your worries about playing the best bro to be the best wouldn’t you want to beat the best or is that asking to much you might want to have a conversation with st lulu coaches and player just a thought
@ILH. Kinda sounds like you’re whining. Kahuku beat Mililani twice in a month. If you can’t handle Mililani then just say so. Lol. Just kidding.
Instead, take this approach: It will be a better tune-up game and will physically prepare you for Kahuku. Warning, come out swinging or Mililani will punch you square in the mouthpiece.
Good luck to all teams.
Man kahuku offensive line needs to wake up they give up pressure way to much
Man they need to help kahuku offensive Oline
Change the brainwashing message in the Kahuku alma mater hymn, while the flag of freedom proudly waves above, that is a reference to the flag of the foreign military occupier which flies above Hae Hawaii at Kahuku High and Intermediate School, which is a government (state) school located within the territory of the Hawaiian Kingdom. It is highly offensive and disrespectful to place the foreign occupier’s flag above Hae Hawaii, the flag of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Allowing the offending words to remain in the alma mater hymn is to enable the inculcation (brainwashing) and Denationalization and Americanization-which are war crimes-of Hawaiian subjects and others who are not American nationals. It is long past time for the school to stop being an instrument for the brainwashing, Denationalizing and Americanizing of Hawaiians and other non-Americans enrolled there.

Pakelike you do know this is a football form so can you take your inflammatory anti flag anti American rhetoric and go find another place to play you have the right to form your own opinion but those are your most of us are hear to discuss and banter high school football

Watching the last RR vs. Millville game makes me think that Millz is a tougher match up for Lulu based on the type of defense they run.
That defense causes issues with their blitz vs. everything mentality.
Were it not for penalties and a muffed punt, Millz could have squeaked that one out.
I am excited for the State Tournament because there are some good matchups up and down the divisions. For example, The Wendell Bowl, Aiea vs. Iolani!!!!!!!! That is some funny stuff.

An Honest Message to Pakelika. This is December 2021, not January 1893. Bitter feelings of resentment regarding the over-throwing of the Hawaiian Monarchy that transpired more than a century ago will not improve your situation now. Rather, you are alienating yourself and diverting people’s attention from real issue that Kahuku is very proud of their Red Raider and will be so forever. And note that the many Polynesians attending Kahuku High School are not limited to Hawaiians like Kamehameha School. We all live in 2021. Please join us. Honest!
Big Boyz, Honesty, Whether you know it or not, whether you believe it or not, the country you live in is the Hawaiian Kingdom, currently under a prolonged unlawful military occupation by the USA. This indisputable, irrefutable fact means that the occupier state-the USA-is obligated to follow the Geneva and Hague Convention laws that regulate occupation, and administer the laws of the occupied state -the Hawaiian Kingdom, until a lawful government of the Hawaiian Kingdom is reinstated. Many are aware of these facts, and are working to expose and ultimately end the occupation; regardless of your ignorance or what you believe. None of this has anything to do with anti-Americanism, bringing the USA in to compliance with its lawful obligations as an occupier, holding it accountable for very serious violations of international law and the sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom, are very noble and rational, reasonable, civil actions to take in order to resolve this intolerable situation that has been going on since 1893. The fact that you two are ignorant of this situation, and believe that what has been said here is anti-American, or that nothing can be done to remediate this outrageous injustice, is evidence of the effectiveness of American brainwashing of Hawaiian subjects and others-including Americans-and that the war crimes of Denationilization and Americanization have occurred and continues. You two are the evidence of that. There is currently a case before the US District Court in Honolulu, Hawaiian Kingdom v Biden et al, in which the Hawaiian Kingdom is asking the Court to transform itself into an Article II court from an Article III court, and provide declaratory and injunctive relief from American laws and American government officials-including those of the unlawful entity the state of Hawaii-and declare that all the foreign consulates currently existing and operating within the territory of the Hawaiian Kingdom are in violation of international law and the laws of the Hawaiian Kingdom. As a result of this complaint being filed in the US District Court, 3 consulates-those of the Czech Republic, Finland, India-have closed. The US Department of Justice has filed a statement of interest in the case, and 3 organizations with expertise in international law and international humanitarian law-the Geneva and Hague Conventions that govern occupation-have filed an amicus brief in the case in behalf of the Hawaiian Kingdom. So much has been done, and much remains to be done, and many who are much more knowledgeable than me or you two and smarter and better educated, are at work on this matter. So you two get educated, come out of the brainwashed state that many of us were in ourselves, and learn what has been withheld from you, including by Kahuku High!
Just confused on here why there’s so many kahuku fans but barely any St. Louis fans and I have noticed the kahuku fans talk down about St. Louis when they haven’t even played them. This site has become a kahuku outlet it seems like
Pakelike why don’t you take your high political distorted ( sorry that last word was longer then 4 letter) theory and stand in the middle of Kam highway with your upside down Hawaiian flag on game night and educate all those brainwashed Red Rider fan driving to the game because you have way to much time to be wasting hear on this site an oh by the way can you in lighten me where The queen Liliuokalani signed the treaty because what I was taught at kahuku is her kingdom was overthrown weather we like it or not bye a superior force and that she gave up her throw to save her people from annihilation which to me was the ultimate sacrifice
Pakelika
Let’s say the USA stops their illegal occupation and turns the islands over to the Hawaii kingdom. When North Korea, China or Russia decides to invade Hawaii, will the kingdom be able to defend themselves or will they beg the USA’s military to protect them?
To: Opinion Subject: Defense of the Hawaiian Kingdom Rather than answer your question my self, I direct you to the expert on this matter, Dr. David Keanu Sai, Chairman of the Council of Regency-the Acting Government of the Hawaiian Kingdom, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Acting Minister of the Interior, retired US Army Captain who is a veteran of 10 years service as an Artillery commander. He is an instructor at Windward Community College. You can reach him at anu@hawaii.edu Please share the answer you get from him with the readers of this forum! Mahalo a me ka oi a i o
This year starts the decade in which State football tourneys will be played on OIA fields. The ILH has not really use their $$$ for fan facilities. Aloha Stadium is gone. The State of Hi. will not have a facility for at least 8 years. It’s time to separate from State dependence for both OIA and ILH. UH will see that. The City should re design Keehi Lagoon park to make a multi use stadium. Lots of parking, easy access from H1, rail station. Do it.
So many arrogant Kahuku Fans out there. Bottom line . football play in hawaii this year aint that competitive. Kahuku hasnt shown me anything that they so call good, yah maybe in hawaii standards this year , but even that , a small mililani team punched kahuku in the mouth . I mean if you were to match up body per body , Kahuku is way bigger than Mililani and probably the biggest team in the state. They should be pounding teams. But a small Mililani team put Kahuku back into reality that they are not dominant team like people think they are. Watch kahuku lose to Saint Louis or Mililani , the home town of kahuku all the way to Kahaluu will be like a funeral when they get snapped back into reality .
Pakelika,
No thx. Already know the answer to the question.
To: Opinion Subject: Defense of the Hawaiian Kingdom Would you state here on this forum what your opinion is of the answer to your question?
Pakelika
Absolutely. Hawaii’s location in the middle of the Pacific obviously is attractive to any military. How would the Hawaiian Kingdom defend itself against other countries wanting this location for their military forces? Again I’m not gonna lose this question to the acting minister of the interior because they answer is obvious.
@gigantic….yes you took the words out of my mouth. It has become more motivating that Kahuku can get put in their places because of the disrespect of the fans, especially on this site. All we see on here these days is a team of Kahuku fans that have nothing good to say about other teams, especially after Mililani nearly ended their run. Now I’m not going to lie, I am a St Louis fan, but if im going to be completely honest, if the score is lopsided this weekend with Mililani in the favor of STL, that just will go to show that both Kamehameha and Punahou deserved to be in the state tournament as well, instead of a team such as Campbell, who has gotten blown out consistently, but is constantly given chances because the OIA has 3 teams compared to the 1 for ILH. May the best team win this week and next, but I sure hope the Kahuku fans on here will be more respectful to the other teams, especially after the constant harassment this entire season on this site
@ Gigantic & Tuli – How do you folks know that the “arrogant fans from Kahuku” commenting here are not more than one person? It could be one person writing all of these comments for all we know just to stir the pot and we wouldn’t be able to tell. It could be someone who isn’t a Kahuku supporter to begin with wanting to make Kahuku look bad, and we all wouldn’t know that either. Aside from that, I do believe in respect going both ways, something that is taught heavily in our community from early on. However, to lable “all Kahuku fans as arrogant” because of certain posts, by people who may not even be from Kahuku or support Kahuku, isn’t a good look either.
The problem with the Kahuku fans is that it’s only a handful that acts stupid on this site, there is a lot of very good Kahuku fans that is respectful, but it’s the stupid comments made by some idiots that makes Kahuku look bad on this site. i was driving through Kahuku recently and notice just pass the PCC there were two flags in someone’s yard, the Kahuku flag and a Saint Louis flag, i guess 1 person goes to Kahuku and 1 Person goes to Saint Louis, but it’s all good, so remember, there is a lot of very good Kahuku fans out there just a bunch of stupidity ones at the same time. Just respect all teams. And let’s have a great State Tournament no matter who wins.
Aloha Hawaiiprepworld fans, I like everyone comments or their point of view, and that all it is. It’s up to our students athletes and coaches to do their assignments to prepare these kids for their games. They might not meet our expectations, it’s the coaches responsibility to prepare for the next team, defense and offense. It’s common that we talk about our teams and others too. Bottom line it’s our kids future we need to support, not ours. Cheer your favorite schools, and congratulate the losing team too, they both sacrificed their family time too. GOBIGRED
@Pakelika, I admire your passion, but please take your comments/views somewhere else. This is a sports forum.
Also, in case you didn’t notice, the history of the world is full of example after example after example of people being conquered or taken over by war or otherwise. There wouldn’t be a Hawaiian Kingdom had King Kamehameha NOT conquered the rest of the islands. So give it a rest.
As far as the topic at hand, the road to the Championship still runs through St Louis. I like Big Red’s chances, but anything can happen once that whistle blows. Mililani’s D is legit, and I expect Bianco to do a lot of running and improvising; but the Trojan O isnt’ what it used to be.
GO Big RED!!!
RRFL!!!
Went thru the 29 comments and did not see any disparaging comment from anyone towards St.Louis. challenging banter but its expected. Anyway the fact is Mililani got 2 big plays from Kahuku mistakes. A pick 6 and ball at Kahuku 2. In essence Mililani’s offense did not contribute to the 14 points. It was rainy and blustery. One thing is that St.Louis couldn’t stop Bartley. So can they can stop a bigger Timoteo? Sure St.Louis has passing, but their rush leader is Bianco. He will get punished. I can see York inserting a wild cat or jumbo. Also the rain and wind at Farrington can get brutal. And its predicted to shower. So it’s a toss up. Plus Mililani came off a challenging OIA championship. St.louis came off a 6 week hiatus. Like the OIA championship, the team that scores last will win.
To: Opinion Subject: Defense of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Your reply is unclear and enigmatic. You will not ask Keanu Sai your question about the defense of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and claim that his answer is obvious; but you didn’t ask, so you don’t know what his answer is. Are you familiar with Keanu, and what he has said, not in answering your specific question, but what he has said in general about the Hawaiian Kingdom’s status as a neutral state, in his presentations available for viewing online? By the way you worded your question about how the Hawaiian Kingdom would defend itself, I suspect that you have not given serious thought nor made any effort to make any inquiry into the matter by consulting those qualified and informed about the subject. Why are you deflecting the question about what is Keanu’s answer to your question? What did you mean by you are not going to lose this question to Keanu “because they answer is obvious?” Why did you use the plural form they to refer to Keanu? If you think his-the grammatically correct singular pronoun to use in reference to Keanu-answer is obvious (maybe to you, maybe you are wrong!) then state what you think that answer is, and share it with the readers of this forum.
No, the problem is you guys are a bunch of PANTYS….. I told you IDIOTS Kahuku is the team to beat in the State before the 1st game of the season. This is a sports forum you CLOWNS. Why the hell you guys getting booty hurt from what people post? Your suppose to talk $H!T on this site. It ain’t real, it’s for entertainment and friendly banter.. This generation is weak because of IDIOTS like you who can dish it out but get all soft when it’s the other way around… F@kken Clowns
lol pakelika, you STILL going at it? you wasn’t embarassed enough in the other article about your crusade (oops that word is offensive!) against offensive school mascots? Or do you only have a problem with Kahuku’s mascot? I BET IT’S JUST US, HUH???
lolol we got another kahuku hater here! I like the ILH fans better here. Even though they don’t know what they talking about and they hate public schools lol at least they talk about football. they don’t write 100 page essays about colonialism on a high school sports page
There is nothing wrong, let alone embarrassing, about exposing the prolonged unlawful military occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the brainwashing going on at the Kahuku Intermediate and High School. An example of this brainwashing is found in the words of the school’s alma mater hymn, “the flag of freedom proudly waves above,” which is clearly understood by the students and alumni of the school to be a reference to the flag of the United States of America, as any one who wanted to test this assertion by asking the students and alumni would confirm. The US flag flies on the same pole as, and above, Hae Hawaii, a most offensive, disrespectful, and insulting display of the extent to which American brainwashing has succeeded in Denationalizing and Americanizing Hawaiian Kingdom subjects- and others-residing in the occupied territory of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Denationalizing and Americanizing the nationals of an occupied state(country) are considered to be war crimes under the laws governing occupation-international humanitarian law, the Geneva and Hague Conventions. Dr David Keanu Sai is Chairman of the Royal Commission of Inquiry, currently gathering facts concerning the commission of war crimes in the occupied territory of the Hawaiian Kingdom, from 1893 to the present, these war crimes continue and are ongoing. These facts will be submitted to all the states which are parties to the Geneva and Hague Conventions, the International Red Cross, and the International Criminal Court. Individuals named in complaints to the International Criminal Court risk being taken into custody, on suspicion of having committed a war crime, if they travel to a state which has acceded to the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. Some of you seem to think that this is merely an opinion in personem, or some silly game, believe it or not, it is neither one of those, it is a most serious matter that has the attention of very serious minded, intelligent, well educated academics, lawyers, judges, and government officials, including those of the occupying state; the US Department of Justice filed a statement of interest in the case of Hawaiian Kingdom v Biden et al, after 3 countries closed their consulates in Hawaii in response to the filing of Hawaiian Kingdom v Biden et al in the US District Court in Honolulu. See HawaiianKingdom.org and the Hawaiian Kingdom weblog for more information
It is wrong to say that those who post comments on this forum supportive of independent schools, or criticizing the OIA or state of Hawaii Department of Education schools hate DOE schools. Such people cherish the valuable alternative to public education independent schools provide, and they greatly respect the right to freely choose that alternative. Some insecure, and perhaps troubled, individuals attempt to demonize those who support the ILH and it’s members by accusing them of hating public schools-nothing could be further from the truth. Further accusing them of not knowing what they are talking about is equally wrong. People who freely and intelligently choose an independent school education do so because they seek a better educational experience, better according to their perspective and standards. That is not to say that public education is bad, necessarily, there are many examples of public school graduates going on to very demanding academic institutions that would not have accepted them if their scholastic academic achievements and records had not been of such quality so as to qualify them for admission into those schools. Nevertheless, it is a fact that public schools are not sufficiently funded, equipped, and staffed to accommodate all of the school age population. Because of this, and legal limitations on what DOE schools can teach, as well as conditions and circumstances existing in DOE schools, some prefer an independent educational experience. According to publicly available information, only 27% of the students at the Kahuku Intermediate and High School can perform at the level of proficiency in mathematics, for reading, it is only 57%. While this is better than many schools in America with unionized faculty and administrators that are also public, it is nothing to boast or be proud of. One wonders how many Kahuku Football Team members are proficient in the subjects mentioned-truly proficient- and not just given a passing grade so they can be eligible to play. To those who would accuse independent schools of illegitimately giving passing grades to athletes in order for them to remain eligible to play, an important distinction between public and independent schools should be noted. Public schools are entirely financed with public funds, while independent schools are financed with private funds! That is a very big and meaningful distinction! It means that public schools have an obligation-a fiduciary responsibility to the general public, not only to the parents of the students- to ensure that those funds are spent efficiently and effectively for educational purposes. People are mandated to pay for the funding of public schools, when a student is “passed” despite not being proficient so he or she can be promoted to the next grade or graduate or remain eligible to compete in athletics, it is a very serious breach and betrayal of the public trust. If an independent school does any of those things, it is a private matter between the parents of that student and the school. An independent school that would illegitimately “pass” a student risks legal action and acquiring a unwholesome reputation that may lead to declining enrollment. Finally, by the manner in which some of the comments on this forum are written, if they are written by graduates of the Kahuku Intermediate and High School, it is easy to believe that only 57% of the students there-the so called “sons and daughters true” for whom are “the doors flung wide”-achieve the level of proficiency in reading, and consequently writing. Let’s give them the benefit of doubt that they graduated from the Kahuku Intermediate and High School.
Someone reading-or attempting to read-comments made here concerning the prolonged unlawful military occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom has either confused or conflated occupation with colonization, the two are entirely different, mutually exclusive, and not to be confused or conflated, one with the other. A state-which is what the Hawaiian Kingdom is, verified by the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague in the Netherlands and by a doctoral committee at the University of Hawaii- cannot be colonized, only a nation and place not having achieved international recognition as a state can be colonized. If Hawaii were colonized, and/or not in continuity as a state, the PCA would not have accepted the case of Larsen v Hawaiian Kingdom, but it did accept the case after exercising it’s institutional jurisdiction and determining that there is no evidence to be found to conclude that the Hawaiian Kingdom no longer exists. This confusion/conflation about colonization and occupation is not exclusively limited to drop-outs and graduates of the Kahuku Intermediate and High School. American brainwashing and the failure of the print and broadcast media to report on the case of Larsen v Hawaiian Kingdom and the occupation are to be blamed for the ignorance and confusion.
