Kahuku is No. 1 in the Star-Advertiser Football Top 10, and the gap is widening.
With a bye week, the OIA powerhouse managed to open its margin to double-digit points over No. 2 Saint Louis. Kahuku collected 11 of 13 first-place votes from the panel of coaches and media.
A week ago, Kahuku had a six-point edge on the Crusaders. This week, the margin is 11 points, the largest in Kahuku’s four weeks atop the rankings.
ILH champion Saint Louis (5-3) last played a game on Nov. 5, outlasting Kamehameha in the title game. The First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Open Division state championships are set for Dec. 18 and 23.
The top eight spots in the weekly poll remained status quo, but the No. 9 and 10 positions include a new visitor from the Big Island. Unbeaten Konawaena (4-0) is at No. 9 after a 43-14 win over rival Kealakehe. The Wildcats also posted a 24-21 win over defending BIIF Division I champion Hilo early in the season.
Waianae, which went to then-No. 10 Kapolei and won 12-3, returned to the Top 10 for the first time since Oct. 31. The Seariders (3-3) sealed a playoff berth in the OIA Open Division with the victory.

Can see why pollsters added value points to Kahuku. 1st.string QB goes down, back up guides team to the next 49 points. And it’s against a healthy #3 team! At their House during homecoming! Then that team wallops Campbell at their house. Kahuku makes adjustments and is not a one dimensional team anymore. I still think they have cards they havent shown.
When youre kids play for the community and each other? 5-0. When youre kids are stolen from other people’s backyards and the “school” just tries to buy championships and recruit?? 5-3. Lulu and the ILH better watch out. Its our year now. RRFL!
Nobody has addressed the issue of Kahuku’s “recruit coordinator”. What’s that all about?
Looks like Campbell has nothing and the rest of the public schools including Mililani has nothing, only one team, Kahuku from the OIA is the only team in the OIA that is good, can’t wait for the State Tournament, Crusaders will be ready to go.
Kahuku has a recruit coordinator to bring in coaches from colleges to take a look at the athletes they have , also to guide there parents who has no knowledge on how to get there kids in to a good college.. plus help these athletes in making letters and videos to Pursue there dream at the college level.. That the type of recruit coordinator kahuku has.. That’s what the community of Kahuku has lost.. RIL Coach
ILH brings up an honest point. Is Kahulu’s Red Raiders passing game better than Punahou? Is Kahulu’s Red Raiders running game better than Kamehameha? Would Mililani Trojans beat either Punahou or Kamehameha? The honest answer to all three questions is NO!
The biggest threat that will come out of Campbell when the RR visit on saturday will be giant weed clumps and wayward fireworks. Hey, HPD put some plainclothes behind the stands. Score some points by busting some perps. OC camera man on the crane, swing over to shoot some clips of these losers with their kiddy fireworks.
Kahuku’s JV running game is better than Kamehamehas running game and Mililani would destroy Kamehameha and St. Louis if they played.
Kids arent stolen from communities to attend private schools.
You are a special kind of stupid if you think that.
If you mad, be mad at the parents, they’re truly the ones responsible.
Anything to stoke the fires of victimhood. I get it.
Unlike you, I applaud parents who make the decision to send their child to private school knowing full well the sacrifice and commitment that comes with it.
OG RFFL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Mililani looked like a JV team this weekend. Campbell looked like intermediate. Only St. Louis and kahuku are the top teams. The rest are definitely below them this year. That’s all we can really say. But other than that after watching this weekend I can’t believe Campbell is ranked so high after how bad they looked
OG rrfl why do insist on calling ILH teams stealing kid from outside of there community bro they are called private schools for a reason? 1 it’s a choice parents made with there kids best intentions in mind higher education colleges prep classes 2 private school don’t have boundaries 3 same times it’s the coaches , facilities and 4 which is the most important expect it’s the sacrifice both the parents and kids make , the travel , the cost late hours hitting the books bro don’t be so easy to judge same time and you might this hard to believe in this day an age but it’s not always about winning
Ummmmm….I’m 99.99% sure Mililani scores higher in academics than both StL and Kam. Feel free to do some of your own research.
the only thing shallow is how Lulu and the ILH destroyed high school football by massive recruiting. then the other schools had to do it just to keep up. but keep worshipping cal lee and talking about your “opportunities” kids getting from “private schools.” and come on really talking about classrooms. we talking about football not schoolball. and you guys recruit students too anyway! RRFL!
I’m just proud of all Hawaii boyz all over the country in college my cousins went to punahou, kamehameha, and St. Louis and the all did well….but I’m a RR4EVA and out here is bloodline ohana/aiga and very passionate/proud community driven and God fearing butGod bless to all the student athletes just press and givum
To og rrfl there is no “lulu.” Your childish and immature attempt to mock the opponent you obviously resent indicates your insecurity and hatred for the team that has been so successful that their record of championships and reputation as Hawaii’s premier scholastic football team bothers you to the point where you can’t resist the urge to show off your childish immaturity and insecurity. Does the failure to dominate local prep football by a certain government school so obsessively bother you that you that have to lash out with your silly behavior? Be aware that it is easy to come up with names that mock your government school, and your repeated use of your derogatory reference to the team you hate invites the same disrespect to be shown to your team!
