Numata died in 2019 after suffering injuries in a skateboarding accident. The former Pearl City standout was a catcher in the Detroit Tigers organization, playing for the Erie SeaDogs, a AA team. He was a 14th round draft pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2010.

Coach Eric Tokunaga organized the game, which he hopes will become an annual event.


Team Hawaiian defeated Team Aloha, 11-5. Kapolei pitcher-first baseman Jahshua Yacapin was named the MVP.
