APRIL 16, 2015: Damien reaches ILH baseball playoffs

On this day in 2015, Damien planted the seeds for its first state baseball championship.

Jayden Cabbab went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and the Monarchs beat Hanalani 4-3 to reach the ILH playoffs. They fell short, but two years later the Monarchs made it all the way to the Division II state title game before a loss to Kauai and won it all the next year. Cabbab was one year short of seeing his dream realized.


Damien began playing baseball in 1966 under Tsuneo Watanabe but didn’t make the state tournament until 2017. The Monarchs didn’t make states in 2015, either,
