APRIL 9, 2008: Waianae volleyball team hits its peak

On this day in 2008, the Waianae boys volleyball team swept Pearl City and Aiea to take a commanding lead in the OIA Red West.

The Seariders, who were ranked No. 5 in the state, were led by setters Aaron Robinson and Desmond Dela Cruz. Aaron Fogatu had 10 kills and Anthony Robinson added eight.

Waianae went on to win the OIA championship with an emphatic sweep of Roosevelt but got swept by eventually champion Iolani in its first match at states.
