APRIL 4, 1989: Francine Stone scores 34 points for Roosevelt

On this date in 1989, Roosevelt’s Francine Stone scored 34 points in a playoff win over Kalaheo, but it could have been more.

She missed nine free throws.

The Rough Riders earned their third win of the season but had to face unbeaten Farrington the next night. The Governors limited Stone to 11 points and Roosevelt failed to make the state tournament. Stone never got to play at states and the school’s drought wasn’t broken until 1993.
