When Eddie Klaneski took his Damien football team to Washington to lose to Mt. Spokane in 2018, he was also giving three boys a glimpse of their future campus.
Damien wide receiver Jarvis Natividad made his commitment to Whitworth University (Wash.) on Monday, a few hours after football and basketball teammate Jake Holtz did the same.

Unlike Holtz, who will play basketball, Natividad will go to the school for football. He is already familiar with the Pirates’ field, having caught two passes from Holtz in 2018 when the Monarchs lost to Mt. Spokane on it. Natividad had a part of Holtz’s 299 passing yards in that game, which is still a program record.
Natividad has his own place on the school’s record book, finishing with 161 receiving yards against Radford last year, good for the third most in school history. Natividad also has the ninth-highest receiving marks in a game, collecting 138 twice last season.
Natividad led Damien in receiving last season, catching 47 passes for 845 yards and nine touchdowns. The rest of the receivers only caught 10 scoring passes and he had twice as many yards as the next guy.
He finished his high school career with 87 catches for 1,248 yards and 12 touchdowns in three years. He will rejoin current Whitworth defensive back Lindon Sevilleja, who is playing defensive back for the Pirates but was Damien’s leading receiver as a senior. Sevilleja closed his career with 75 catches for 1,125 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons.
That’s great seeing more Hawai’i kids staying on the path to achieve their personal goals. Represent Hawai’i and make us proud.
Well deserved of this kid. Very respectful and humble young man on the field as well as off the field. Super smart kid averaging a 4.2 GPA as well as balling out on the field! Does not get any better than that. Definition of a STUDENT-ATHLETE. Represent the 808 up there.
Way to represent Houghtailing Boy! Keep balling like you have been your whole life. Viriliter Age!
